The Oyo State Government has intensified rescue operations following the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area. Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed that security operatives are working around the clock to secure the release of the victims after armed attackers stormed schools in the community.
According to reports, some members of the rescue team encountered improvised explosive devices during the operation, highlighting the growing security challenges in parts of the state. Residents have expressed concerns over the spread of kidnapping activities into Southwestern Nigeria, traditionally considered safer than other regions.
The governor assured citizens that additional security measures would be introduced to prevent future attacks and improve intelligence gathering across vulnerable communities.
