Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, alongside Amotekun Corps and local vigilantes, successfully rescued two abducted cocoa farmers during a joint security operation in Idi-Ayunre. The victims were kidnapped while visiting a cocoa nursery site connected to the Cocoa Farmers Association.
Authorities confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the incident while efforts continue to rescue remaining victims believed to still be in captivity. Security agencies credited the success of the operation to improved collaboration among local security outfits.
Community leaders have praised the swift intervention and called for sustained patrols in farming communities vulnerable to attacks by armed criminals.
